Re: Chris's 2013 NaPoMo
Powerful poem, Chris. I don't know the true story I assume it is based upon but don't need to.

Thank you both.

although they are an antique pair
picking up a conversation grown cold
when they were in the thick of it
a companionable conversation
habits of thought that survived
the thinning out,
seashells in the backwash
of a tremendous wave.

Re: Chris's 2013 NaPoMo
You paint a tender picture of the "antique pair" and then deliver an unexpected and oh-so-effective ending:
seashells in the backwash
of a tremendous wave.
I really like this one, Chris. You've done a good job capturing a heartbreaking mix of emotions.

Re: Chris's 2013 NaPoMo
Leaves me wanting the back story. Is that fair?

Re: Chris's 2013 NaPoMo
Thank you, Kat. No big back-story, Tere. Rose and Eli are my mother and uncle...just a sketch/impression of them; two of three remaining members of a family of seven,
Chris

Re: Chris's 2013 NaPoMo
Good way to express the interconnectedness of all things, Chris, and how that effects any one of us.
