Sinclair Lewis's Nobel Lecture
I can't decide where to put this link. First thought was to add it to Kat's Working Class thread in Discussion I. Second thought was to start a new thread in same forum. But I've decided on here.
I think Sinclair Lewis was the first (U.S.) American to receive a Nobel prize in lit. Year was 1930. This is a must read. From one stand point it is a period piece speaking to the lit scene of then. Lewis's big, big comprehensions of his contemps comes through. On the other hand the lecture gives perspective. Lit will argue with itself and it should.

Re: Sinclair Lewis's Nobel Lecture
Thanks for these, Tere. I will read this and the one posted in the other thread over the weekend.
Isn't it funny how people who are long gone can feel so companionable?
