Buffy Sainte-Marie

I want to share 3 You Tube things. It has been years, maybe 3 decades, since I last thought of Buffy Sainte-Marie, folk singer from the 60s, Cree Indian from Saskachewan. I didn't know she got blacklisted in the 70s. The Feds put the word out: don't carry her on the radio bands. I didn't know the song I've always associated with Donovan, "Universal Soldier", she wrote. And I didn't know that the Cocker and Warnes song "Up Where We Belong" she also wrote. I did know she once took a passage from L. Cohen's second novel and put it to music: "God is Alive, Magic is Afoot."

No comment needed.
