I've been known to get a bit sassy with the gods myself lol so this almost sounded a bit like me (or maybe just my poetry) only much much better! Thank you! The sassy tone is perfect throughout. This is one I'll come back to for sure! nondisclosed_email@example.com (vkp)Sun, 01 Apr 2012 09:11:38 +0000 Re: Our Frosty Moon Goddess Exclusive: Selene Speaks out in "Salon"https://bdelectablemnts.runboard.com/p10417,from=rss#post10417https://bdelectablemnts.runboard.com/p10417,from=rss#post10417Slapping my forehead, yes, I do get where you are going and I thank you heartily for the suggestion. I agree—the poem needs that. This is something a little different. In voice, syntax, playful tone, and line measure. And it all comes together, leads nicely up to a marvellous last line. One thing I wish you could work into the poem, what speaks to Selene's love of him, is that in Greek mythology Endymion is the first man to observe the movements of the moon. Get where I am going? Of course she would have had the hots for the first man to actually take note of her movements, phases, motions. Good stuff. Smart stuff. I note how the poem balances itself on the two randy women, Selene and Eos. And who said women are not in competition? You try sneaking into caves after midnight looking for sleeping shepherds—there's no available light in there except for my torch and if I'm not careful, instead of slipping under the robes with some buffed up hunk of moon-candy, I find some gnarly guy with lice in his hair and the breath of a dying ram— I'm not into adding to the chalk marks on my chariot with lays like that. I got lucky with Endymion, you know? He was more than a fallback guy for when I was in the mood (which, as we know, with me is pretty often) I miss him—and that's the truth. Even in his sleep that man had all the moves. And it's hell being so fertile—fifty-plus pregnancies and motherhood will slow a gal down. Oh, and those three little girls I had with Zeus? Cute, but they're the worst: always nagging me to come out and play with the herd. By the way, Note to Pan: Next time, ask. Dude, did I need dozens of white oxen to take care of? My address doesn't have to read "Mt. Olympus" to earn me some respect. Upgrade the cape, the headdress: it's diamonds and furs when you get lucky enough to fuck a goddess. nondisclosed_email@example.com (MsParataxis)Sat, 22 Oct 2011 21:33:02 +0000
