Ask me again why I so dis the American poetry scene. This kind of heroic insistence is real to me. To have a voice, to be heard, to love, to want, to insist. That is real to me. The American scene, self-infatuated, is not. And let me be quite clear. Self-diddling in America is as pervasive among women poets as among the men.
