Macondo Twilight

Macondo Twilight

In my sweet sisters’ songs
and so many sisters I’ve let down,
there is this blueness in the doorway.
It will change in the last lights before
I can get these words down and pinned

tonight.

That the sky gets called blue is a word choice.
Look at it long enough and notice painter’s nuance.
Look at my sisters long enough,

notice painter’s nuance.

I almost saw them, doors and windows open in.
But then I turn to caption them.
With paper and a pen I’m stupid for
making a record of what all scriveners
are stupid for. Turning to keep a record.

Oh no. I am wrong. Theirs is a Gulf song.
Crenelated. Striated. Back light’’s in silver sight.
She who shreds the truths of men shredding her.

Yes. In her I see. She keeps holding back the hour.

But the hour looks up, goes grayness anyway.
Roseate burst in the finial and the moment leans in.
Blues or silvers gone in backdrop. Night is fire light here.

And my Gulf girl who must die tonight.

Terreson.

(Macondo the sector in which the Deepwater Horizon blew.).
