I've been out of action due to an auto accident these past few weeks but hope to be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed any day now! Getting back to the poem, though, I hope you will consider starting it somewhere in the middle. It's more startling that way. I see an error in my post upthread. I meant it's "a case of less is more." This is the whole poem for me: mostly, now, just because    we saw a butterfly and weren’t blind,    could hear the distant thunder or a dove,    felt the wind on our face and all day long    nobody died. This is more powerful than the poem as a whole. A case is less is more. The lines above this passage are abstract; I can't see anything but mist until I get to the lines I've chosen here, which are the more intriguing for starting in medeas res. I know where my future lies. This poem points that out very well. My first hope is that I outlive my 85 year old mother. Sure as shit do not wish to do that to her. My next one is this, that as long as I am alive, I can write. And the one good thing being that I still LIKES the ladies. Good job GBF. bertonondisclosed_email@example.com (aticama)Fri, 06 Mar 2009 23:58:40 +0000 Re: Posted for Patricia Joneshttps://bdelectablemnts.runboard.com/p1791,from=rss#post1791https://bdelectablemnts.runboard.com/p1791,from=rss#post1791Thanks.nondisclosed_email@example.com (GaryBFitzgerald)Wed, 25 Feb 2009 22:25:17 +0000 Re: Posted for Patricia Joneshttps://bdelectablemnts.runboard.com/p1783,from=rss#post1783https://bdelectablemnts.runboard.com/p1783,from=rss#post1783I like this Gary. I do think after forty that is how it will always be. We lose some we love too early, we lose others later...we mourn them all. And then we begin to realize we are the older generation now, will not live forever even though we don't feel that old. But we read the obituaries, notice when someone was born in our own birth year or even later...loss and aging is not an easy road to accept...” I thought it might help her, and Dragon, to feel better knowing that they aren't the only ones. Not the poem's fault, but mine. I wasn't approaching it correctly, looking to fit it to my own expectations of what a poem should be. I think I get it now. While it is a slight poem and could easily fall down on its face, where it takes its reader I think is what matters, which is back to what really matters. Sometimes you've just got to get the old paddle out and fight the current. nondisclosed_email@example.com (GaryBFitzgerald)Mon, 16 Feb 2009 11:16:01 +0000 Posted for Patricia Joneshttps://bdelectablemnts.runboard.com/p1673,from=rss#post1673https://bdelectablemnts.runboard.com/p1673,from=rss#post1673           Joy When Older    Though still a flush of inner smile,    remembrance of the future    not quite like it used to be:    undesired.
