Ginsberg reciting "Howl."

While I've never understood the objection I get that most online poetry readers object to length in a poem just because it is lengthy. I suspect Homer would not fare well in the present environment.

Late Friday night, tired and sipping rum, I found a You Tube recitation of "Howl" by Allen Ginsberg. It is in three parts, that long. Sometime after midnight I remembered again why it is a great poem. Do what I did. Pull down from your bookshelf the poem. Read the pages with Ginsberg in your ear. Jewish and homosexual and in 1953 he speaks to a universal still dogging America in the 21st C. This is why I put poetry above all else. This. Right here.

hi Tere,

It took me a while to get around to listening to this--I've heard it before and I think I'll make a habit of listening to it--every five months maybe--Thanks for reminding me.
