Re: Adventure

Hi Zak,

Thanks for stopping by my tribute to Herman thread. Yes, I wrote that poem in response to one that libra wrote in her "call and response" thread. She started out one of her poems this way:

"Such a psychotic mess
Such a mood slave"

and those lines were the spark for what I wrote.

And, yes, the writing group Herman and I were members of is still active. In fact, we were members of two writing groups that are still active. Many of those members came to his memorial celebration last July and read pieces about what knowing Herman had meant to them. A collection of those writings was given to his wife after the gathering.

Herman was like a father figure to me, especially since I met him not long after both my father and stepfather had died within about 9 months of each other. Herman himself had just recently retired, so he had more free time for things like writing groups and spiritual meetings. For as long as I knew him, Herman attended a group that met twice a month to discuss A Course in Miracles. Many of the people from that group came to his memorial service as well and read pieces they had written for the occasion.

As I mentioned upthread, Herman was a spiritual seeker, not a spiritual follower of any sort, but a spiritual seeker. He told me he looked into the Rosicrucians, for example, and Edgar Cayce. He even insisted on getting my astrological chart from the Cayce foundation. When I read it some of it was so on target, I asked him if he had sent them any information about my background and personality. He laughed and said, nope, just your name, city of birth and birthdate. I dug that chart out and reread it yesterday.

Hey Tere,

I just realized I never thanked you for your comment. I thanked you in my head! emoticon But your comment was noted and appreciated. I tend to think Herman was a better friend to me than I was to him, but I know he wouldn't say that. Thanks for reminding me.
