I.I.
In Ateliers I posted my most recent collection. It is called Bottom City Blues. It includes a poem called Two Fathers, a poem incited by a desire to learn how to inseminate queen bees, something I've wanted for easily five years and finally have the opportunity to learn this spring. Yesterday was a huge day for me. Afternoon spent learning how to collect semen from drones. Here is a video of what I.I. involves. You bet this is a Gaia moment for me. Oh. Bee people are a close community, this world wide. The woman in the video is internationally known, an expert at what she does, and I work with a man who, for years, assisted her.

Re: I.I.
Wow, Tere, congratulations! The process requires "practice and attention to detail." I'll say. That's quite a skill you have accomplished. Fascinating. I had no idea beekeeping could be such complex activity. Thanks for sharing the video. I hope you are including an entry about this in your beekeeping field notes.

Re: I.I.
Thanks, Kat. Pretty exciting stuff for me. As is my fashion, by way of preparation I've read, read, and read more. I've watched videos, some of which are microscope-close peering down into queen bee's ovaries. And I've studied a couple of dozen illustrations. So, as the saying goes, there is only one thing left. Just do it. They say you kill a hundred queens before getting the technique down. Looks like I am going to have to commit.
