Re: Kat's 2012 NaPoMo
Kat, these daily posts have been witty, soulful, poetic and a pleasure to wake up to this past month. You're such a close and generous reader, I forget what a wonderful writer you are. I hope you keep posting, I'm
greedy,
Chris

Re: Kat's 2012 NaPoMo
Hey Chris,
Thank you for being my NaPoMo writing companion and reader. I couldn't/wouldn't have done it without you. I'm not sure what's next on the agenda. Maybe not daily poems, but I would like to do something or other on, minimally, a weekly basis. How's about you?
today’s poem
dear reader
is the one
you write
yourself

Re: Kat's 2012 NaPoMo
TY, C & T. I think the month was successful for me in the way I hoped it would be. I wanted to enjoy the process again and not worry about the product. I read somewhere at the beginning of the month that you can't do it wrong. You could write a haiku everyday or a sonnet or whatever. What mattered was the writing. I thought, a haiku length poem or a tweet length poem everyday might be something I can manage. I didn't have any grand expectations, but even so, I had to recall William Stafford's advice. Stafford used to write every morning, and once when he was asked how he did that, he replied, "I just lower my standards." One of my poems this month was titled "How Small Can You Go?" but somedays I thought to myself, how low can you go (in terms of length and standards)? And then I'd go there.
