Come Summer
like a hound's tongue, loosely
hung between the bayonets
and tombstones of his teeth
like a slack-keyed
island melody
like a sun-splayed swimmer
in the sand, still jostled
by the sea

Re: Come Summer
Hi Chris,
I, too, enjoyed the images in this poem, but I also really enjoyed the sound work. It is fun to read outloud, savoring the interplay of consonants and vowels. The two together, image and sound, make for a lush reading that captures the sensuous essence of summer for me.
